Woyzeck by Georg Büchner
Franz Woyzeck is a lonely German soldier living with his wife Marie. Woyzeck earns extra money for his family by performing menial jobs for the Captain and taking part in medical experiments conducted by the Doctor to eat nothing but peas. Woyzeck's mental health is breaking down and he begins to experience a series of apocalyptic visions. Meanwhile, Marie turns her attentions to a handsome drum major. Finally, Woyzeck stabs Marie to death by a pond.

Kovalyov wakes up one morning without his nose. He later finds out that his nose has developed a life of its own, and has apparently surpassed him by attaining a higher rank. The story goes on with the journey of looking for the nose while revealing the absurdity that lies at the core of modern life.
